Landscape
Architecture Mission
The
mission of the Landscape Architecture program is to offer
a diverse undergraduate curriculum that exposes students
to a wide range of practice and further educational opportunities
facing the region through education, research and service
to the public within a comprehensive design school.
Our program offers an accredited, five-year Bachelor of
Landscape Architecture (BLA) professional degree that prepares
students for entry into the profession or further graduate
studies. By combining the degree with our planning curriculum,
our graduates are also eligible to sit for the American
Institute of Certified Planners exam after the required
professional internship. We think the dual preparation serves
our students well.
We
have active student chapters of the American Society of Landscape
Architects (ASLA) and Sigma Lambda Alpha (SLA), the national
honor society. Our students have won six national ASLA awards
in design and research over the past five years. In addition,
we participate in a number of outreach studios that serve
the state of Nevada and give students practical experience
prior to graduation. Our alumni have gone on to successful
careers in private, public, and academic practice. They have
pursued graduate degrees at UNLV and at other universities.
They have also become leaders in the Nevada ASLA and other
organizations. In short, we are proud of our program and welcome
you to join us.
