We are fortunate to have very active and self-motivated student organizations that sponsor a number of design competitions, community events, and outreach efforts each year. Each fall, practitioner mentors are invited to accept students who stay in touch with them throughout the year. Portfolio night, in which principals from local firms explain what they look for in prospective employees, has become an annual event. Regular fieldtrips into the desert are augmented by trips to urban centers in the region. The highlight of the year for many students is the annual trip to LABASH, the national student conference.

ASLA is the national professional association. Membership is open to all students.

Sigma Lambda Alpha is the national Landscape Architecture Honor Society. Members are elected in the spring semester.
